blind review
As you are probably already aware, the exhibition Archiprix EHV at Plaza Vertigo serves not only to show the best graduation projects in architecture and urbanism at TU/e for the past year, but also for a guest jury to select the four projects which will represent the department in the national Archiprix competition (Archiprix NL). Therefore, in order to make sure that the work is assessed and discussed on its own merits, CASA and the Archiprix Committee have decided to organize a blind reviews of the projects in the exhibition. This simply means that the material presented should not include neither the name of its author (that is, you) nor the name of its supervising committee. In short, the projects should be identified by their title only.
If your name or the name of your graduation committee is present in any of the material you intend to present at the exhibition, please make sure to cover it up ahead of the installation.
exhibition installation guidelines
To maintain a consistency of presentation, CASA has prepared the framework for the installation of your projects. For the presentation of your project you will have available a fencing unit (measuring approximately 3400x1800mm) as a vertical surface to hang your work as well as the possibility of using 1 or 2 tables (metal top with wooden feet), as a horizontal surface for placing your physical model(s). To hang your work on the fencing unit, we have prepared some OSB boards of different dimension that you can combine a will, namely:
Type A= 600x600mm
Type B= 400x400mm
Type C= 300x300mm
Type D= 200x200mm
We ask that you make a diagram of your installation as soon as possible and determine how many boards of each type you require (as well as if you require any table tops for exhibition physical models) so that we can reserve the necessary boards for your project. Please note that it will be on the basis of this diagram that we will assign your place in the exhibition.
Once you have the boards, you should attach your drawings and other material to the OSB boards with staples (we also have a stapler available for you to use, if you require).
In order to maintain visual consistency (and abide to Vertigo's fire regulations), some design rules are to be followed when installing your project in the exhibition. Specifically:
Horizon Line Rule
Since it is necessary to maintain some porosity through the fencing used as vertical surfaces in this exhibition, only half of the fencing can be occupied at any given point. Specifically, either the top or the bottom part of a line that is consistent across the different installations, at a height of 1050mm (at the middle of the fencing's height).
Hanging System
In order to hang the OSB boards to the fencing, we have prepared a hanging system of screws, bolts and backplates. While we will provide you with the all screws, bolts and backplates that you will need for the assembly of the hanging system, you will need to prepare it yourself on all of your boards. For that, you will need to pre-drill the necessary boards.
If you don't know how to do this, we will gladly provide you some assistance (as well as loan you a drill for the work) during the installation week. Just let us know.
When hanging your work it is advised to bring someone or come with a fellow student for the other person to hold the plate on the other (front) side.
Tables
if you would like to use a (metal-top) table in your installation, there are a few things to consider. Firstly, only physical objects and models can be placed on a table (so, no drawings, prints or text), and each object should use as a base one of the prepared OSB boards.
Q&A (we will add more as we receive questions)
| I am not available during the installation week. What should I do?
Currently we are working hard to make sure that the framework of the exhibition is already fully installed a few days ahead of the installation week so that if you must, you can install it then. Otherwise, we suggest that you prepare your material and ask a friend or a colleague to install it for you during the installation week. In very exceptional cases you may be able to install it a later date, ahead of the blind jury review.
| Is it possible to use a screen to present my work?
It is possible to use a screen to present your work. However, CASA only has a limited number of screens (3) available, and there are also a limited amount of locations within the exhibition that are suitable to have power delivered to them. If you would like to use one, please be quick to let us know, since only the first three requests for a screen will be accommodated. Also, please consider that the screen should be mounted within the horizon line scheme with an OSB backing/frame. Please get in touch with us for additional details.
